Voting Frequently Asked Questions

Am I eligible to vote?

Only full-time and part-time day students at the Belleville, Bancroft, Port Hope and Tyendinaga campuses may vote.

One of the candidates pressured me to vote for them and I didn’t feel comfortable. What should I do?

If any of the candidates pressure you or ask for your student number and date of birth to vote on your behalf, please contact the Chief Returning Officer immediately.

How can I vote?

Check your email beginning Monday, April 1st for a link to the voting website as well as your Voter ID and Password.

Who are the candidates, and where can I find out more about their platforms?

Candidates and their platforms will be available on the LoyalistLife.com website shortly after nominations close.

Does it even matter if I vote or not?

Absolutely! The Loyalist Student Government is there to represent you as a student. Every student has at least a few concerns that they want to see addressed, and the only way to make sure these are heard is to take part in the process. It doesn’t take much time to read through the candidates’ platforms and make a decision. You’re paying good money to get an education at Loyalist College, and you’re also paying fees to the Loyalist Student Government – so have a say in how that money is used and what kind of experience you want to have while you’re here!
